Prehistory
The formation flying in Swedish Air Force leads its beginning in 1930's, when instructors from flying school formed an aerobatic team with three Focke Wulf Fw 44J Stieglitz trainers.
After the World War II, the tradition of aerobatic teams is followed with Flying Barrel team flying with SAAB J29, Acro Hunters team with Hawker Hunter, Acro Deltas team with and SAAB 35 Draken.
In 1967 Swedish Air Force formed an unofficial display team, which must perform in Le Bourget, to represent with advertising purpose, the new Swedish built jet trainer SAAB 105 (SK60 in Swedish nomenclature).
Team 60 History
In 1974 the Commander in Chief of Swedish Air Force signed a note to establish an official aerobatic display team, flying with four SAAB 105 planes. The name of the team is combination from the name of the plane SK60 and "team" - Team 60. The team is a part of Air Force Central Flying School at Ljungbyhed airbase in southern Sweden. On the next year another two planes are added to the Team 60. First public display of the new Swedish team is in May 1976 in Gothenburg. Since then Team 60 has many displays, but only in Europe.
For the 2008 season, the team will not perform during the Swedish financial reorganization.
