Silver Swallows History
The first aerobatic team of the Ireland Air Corpse is called Silver Swallows and is established in 1986 with three planes. In 1987 a fourth Magister was added to the team.
The team includes four Fouga CM170 Super Magister aircrafts from the crew of Light Sturm Squadron of 1st supporting wing based in Baldonnel. The squadron's international debute is on July 26, 1990, in British airbase Brawdy.
1997 is the most active year in the history of this team, and, by irony of fate, is also the last one. After some participations in 75th anniversary of the Ireland Air Corpse they participate in the Air Tattoo airshow in Great Britain. In the end of the year they visit United Kingdom again; this demonstration in Leuchars is the last one in the history of the team because in 1998 the CM170 aircrafts are removed from armaments.
The team's airplanes have no colour insignias on them except for the logo of the team. The logo of the team is not permanent and change during team existing, even missing somethimes.
At the present time the aerobatic team of the Ireland Air Corpse is the Team Warrior from Baldonnel airbase. It consists of three or four SIAI Marchetti SF260WE Warrior training propeller aircrafts. They fly as an aerobatic team only during airshows in Ireland and have no colour insignias.
