Halcones (Falcons) History
The first aerobatic display team in Chilean Air Force is formed in 1958 and flies with four Lockhead F-80 Shooting Star. This team named Condores de la Plata exists till 1965.
Again tradition of aerobatic teams in Chile rising up in 1980, when Halcones aerobatic team is established equipped with five of a new arriving North American Pitts Special S2A airplanes. Officially the team is created on 14 January 1981 assigned to Air Force Base at El Bosgue.
In 1989 Halcones visit England and Belgium. This is the last year, when the team uses Pitts.
In 1990 Halcones start to use Extra 300 airplanes and later to Extra 300L.
Since its creation, Halcones visited following foreign countries: United States, England, France, Israel, Belgium, Ecuador and Peru.
What are Halcones (Falcons)
The team operated with seven Extra 300L airplanes, while only five planes flying in demonstrations. Team's planes equiped with white smoke generators. Every new team's pilot begins to fly on solo position #5. Ground crew consists of eleven technicians. Every winter (Southern Globe winter), teams pilots going to USA to practice in individual solo aerobatics.
