The Blue Angels’ solo pilot made an emergency landing at Naval Air Facility El Centro, California, Jan. 22. The main landing gear did not extend on approach. The pilot landed its F/A-18C aircraft with no injuries to himself. The aircraft was slightly damaged on landing, because of the belly landing.
The incident occurred after the morning practice flight on approaching to land.
The cause of the landing gear malfunction is under investigation.
US NAVY Blue Angels are at their winter training base NAF El Centro, California, where they train for the upcoming air show season.
