Surya Kiran to be disbanded after Aero India Airshow 2011

Indian Air Force Aerobatic Team Surya Kiran will perform for the last time on Feb 9-13, at Aero India airshow held in Bangalore.

The IAF display team was formed officially in 1996 and now 15 years later, Surya Kiran team will be disbanded for reorganization reasons. All of the team's nine HJT-16 Kiran Mk.II planes will be used for pilot's training and all 13 team's pilots will be dislocated in IAF squadrons.

Surya Kiran performed rarely in air demonstrations and airshows, but is sad that the biggest aerobatic display team in Asia comes to an end. The good news is that there are some indications from Indian Air Force to form a demonstration team flying Hawks jet trainers. If the new Hawks flying aerobatic team is appeared, will be better choice while the Kiran planes soon must be retired from the IAF.
