Red Arrows replace a pilot for 2019 air show season

The Red Arrows have forced to change the pilot flying as Red 3 ahead of the 2019 display season, as he being injured playing football.

Flight Lieutenant David Simmonds, Red 3, broke his knee and not be able to recover on time to the upcoming airshow season. He will miss too much training in spring to take part in the 2019 show season.

He will replaced by Flight Lieutenant Mike Bowden, who left the Red Arrows at the end of 2018 show season after four years as a display pilot. Bowden leave the RAF to become an airline pilot, but now he returns to Red Arrows to complete the famous nine-ship flight formation of the team.
