RAF Black Knights

History

After the end of the war, in 1947 was formed the first Royal Air Force aerobatic team flying jet planes – three de Havilland Vampire aircrafts from Odiham fighter wing. Later 54th squadron formed a display team from five Vampires that was the first RAF aerobatic team who used smoke in its demonstrations and the first one flew Hunter aircrafts. The team moved to four Hawker Hunter F1 airplanes in 1955 and a year later received the Black Knights name, because of the pilot's black flying suits.
