Todays civil Red Arrows Gnat
This formation took place in June 1965 for the press over Wattisham
airfield.This was a rehearsal for the Paris air show at Le Bourget June
the same year.The formation consisted of 9 lightnings in diamond
formation and 7 red arrow gnats.Unfortunately even though the red
arrow gnats did a sychronised display with 111 sqn lightnings at Le
Bourget. The formation of the lightnings and red arrows only took place
over Wattisham during the rehearsal purely for the press. (Thanks to Andy)
At the beggining Red Arrows Gnats are painted in overal red
In 1968 Red Arrows Gnats received a flag painted on the tail and white arrow strip on the side.
